Trail / Event
Description:
Lighthouse Event - the lighthouse is visible north of the start point - to your right as you look west with your back to the ocean. 10K distance starts from the parking garage at
Showboat. The trail begins on this famous boardwalk at the Garden Pier, a
cultural haven with its beautiful art center and historical museum. With the
Atlantic Ocean on the left side and the first in a row of glitzy gambling
casinos on the right, the walk passes restaurants, shops, entertainment
centers, the Steel Pier and the site of the Miss America Pageant - all
threaded between streets named in the famous board game "Monopoly." The
trail reaches the doorstep of Ventnor, NJ turning about at a statue studded
mansion and returns the same way back on the boardwalk. Pets are not allowed
on the boardwalk. There is an alternate 12KM route which passes by a brewery
which then qualifies for the Princeton Area Walkers Winery/Brewery Event.
This 12KM route also qualifies for the AVA Railroad Heritage Special Event.
Pets are not allowed on the boardwalk. |
